Terms of use

Last updated: September 2026 · Citation is operated by Surya Pugazhenthi.

What Citation is

Citation is a free tool that measures how visible your local business is when people ask AI assistants for recommendations. It queries real AI engines (OpenAI, Gemini, Claude) using live web search, stores the answers, and computes a score from that stored data.

Scores reflect a point in time

Each report is an immutable snapshot of what those engines said on the day the audit ran. AI engine behavior changes over time; your score today may differ from your score next month. Citation does not guarantee that a higher score will produce more customers, more AI recommendations, or any specific business outcome.

Provided as-is

Citation is provided free of charge, as-is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We make reasonable efforts to keep it accurate and available, but we cannot guarantee uptime, error-free operation, or that the underlying AI engine APIs remain accessible.

Acceptable use

You may use Citation to look up businesses you own, manage, or have permission to research. You may not:

  • Scrape or automate requests to Citation in a way that bypasses our rate limits.
  • Use Citation to harvest competitor intelligence at scale for resale.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer or disrupt the underlying systems.

Third-party data

Business profiles come from the Google Places API. AI answers come from OpenAI, Gemini, and Claude. Citation does not control those services and is not responsible for their accuracy or availability.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Citation and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this tool or reliance on its output.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the “last updated” date when we do. Continued use of Citation after changes constitutes acceptance.
